Introduction to music magazine

Music Magazine

This year we started learning about magazines and conventions of magazines. We learnt about the key concepts of media such as stereotyping, representation and ideology. This lead to thinking of a target audience, which is mainly girls age 15 to 25. I aimed my magazine at the social grade C people as the magazine contains a lot of high street features which would appeal to them. The music market is called 'Grunge Pop', which I made up as a niche market.

My music magazine developed by thinking of a house style, which included the colours purple, black and white. I chose a particular font from http://www.dafont.com/, which I used on each title.
Music artists who inspired my music scene were Lady Gaga, Pixie Lott, Kesha, Florence and the Machine, Lily Allen and Katy Perry. These are all girls which is why I aimed my magazine at girls. They also all have their own individual style which is why I made up a niche market for them.

I did some research on my target audience. I produced a questionnaire invloving questions to do with people's social grades and their interests. (See questionnaire in the blog titled 'Evidence')
The questionnaire results (also found on 'Evidence' blog) gave me an idea of what to put in my magazine to appeal to the readers.
